After nearly six months of blogging I feel that I can finally participate in Scrolling Saturday! Lord knows I have plenty of posts that went untouched, unread, and unnoticed. That's OK. I was dipping my feet into the proverbial blogging waters. Plus, I was figuring out this whole mommy thing so I neither had the time nor the brain power to produce any readable content (momnesia, anyone?). Now, I'm an old pro--the perfect mommy *said with pure, unadulterated sarcasm*.
This was my first post of the year. In it, I talk about change and this term I made up, tryolution--a resolution with the lot less pressure. Sort of the poor man's resolution.
So, nearly four months into the year and I have a few more tryolutions . . .
1. Become better friends with the treadmill. Take it out for a good run more than a couple times a week. It misses you. We won't even talk about the elliptical right now. It's still recovering from months of neglect.
2. Stop fixing. Let her fall. Let her experience life--the good, the bad, and the plain old icky. You've done your job as big sis. Now, just be there for her.
3. Commit to deciding once and for all whether you are going to go back to work or become a SAHM, no longer a "teacher, on leave for a year."
4. Don't be afraid of turning another year older . . . two weeks from today.

I started reading your blog mainly for the American Idol recaps. I have posted a few times. I enjoyed reading today's 'scrolling' post. We have very similar goals and focuses for the year. Up to this point I have been blogging about my daughter.
The treadmill hates my guts. If I try to run on it, it tries to kill me. Just sayin'
Happy Easter!
It is fun to look back now isn't it? Now, I am curious for an update....have you become friends with the treadmill, decided to stay home or go back to teaching, etc....
Happy Easter!
Glad ou're sticking with our bloggin...ou're good at it!!
Thanks for the comment on m blog - I am TICKLED to have been peeped. Seriousl, I feel like I won an Oscar!
Hallie :)
how fun is it to look back on where you were and what you were thinking! Good luck with your new tryloutions
Whew! Lots of stuff to think about, eh? My personal opinion, about going back to teaching, is that the job will always be there. Your degree won't go away, and teachers are always needed. You may not be able to get a dream position next time, but you also can't go back and redo your child's babyhood. But! If you DO go back, teaching is, imho, the best job for a mother as you get more sick and personal days than most jobs, all holidays off, and several weeks of paid leave (if that's how your state does it) during the best seasons. My sister is a teacher and her husband stays home with the kids. They have every summer to just do whatever they want. mini-vacations in the middle of the week... I'm just a teensy bit jealous of that one factor!
Welcome to Scrolling Saturday! Happy Easter! :-)
I did kind of the same thing for NEW years--no such thing as resolutions for me. Those always end up in failure. But for some reason just having some general things to be better at makes success feel so much closer.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. As always, I love reading them!
I like the idea of the tryolution! Very cool. We don't have a treadmill, but I have been trying to get out and actually walk around our neighborhood.
I think I couldn't even stick to a tryolution, though it is a good idea. Good luck with yours!
So your tryolutions? I'm scared that you are reading my mind....EVERY. SINGLE. ONE! That's right. We have WAAAAAY too much in common. I turn the big 3-0 next month----yucky!
Happy Easter! I hope Baby J had a great first Easter!
I have had my treadmill a week today and we have yet to meet! Not good huh? The cats think I brought them home a new cat bed! ha!
Tough decision about the job. I can tell you love teaching as much as I do. But, if I had the opportunity to stay home with my baby, I would cherish it as long as I could. Teaching will always be here - we always need good teachers!! You could wait until he's in pre-k!!??
Happy almost birthday, girl!
So what is happening with your resolutions?
So, looking back on this post, how are you doing? Have you been able to follow through on some? I know you started running again.
My body has finally adjusted to running again. Slowly. I'm working my way back. :)
Go you! All hard things to get going on... the running, determining if you are staying home or going back to work....
Good luck and my the force be with you.
Not that you need it but it's always nice to have the force.
The treadmill can kiss my arse. I can't wait until it's warm enough to actually go OUTSIDE and do some treadmill-like activities!
Love the tryolutions!
What have you decided on the teaching? I have been home almost five years now. I still ask myself that every year! LOL
Those are so good!
I wish we were at a point where I could decide to stay home. Good luck if you can (and want to). If not, I'd start looking for daycare soon! ;)
Okay. So I am seriously wondering where you are on all these tryolutions. In fact, I wrote a resolutions post and I think I will revisit it sometime in the next couple of weeks.
KEEP BELIEVING
Oh good luck with those. When you find out how to like the treadmill despite itself, please please let me know.
I think you should copy right this term - tryolution! It's brillian!
I have to go write all my tryolutions down, as I need to hold myself a bit more accountable. Nicely written post!
I'm wow-ed by this article. You do include interesting facts about the subconscious mind and how it works. Hmm, do check out http://www.subconscious-mind.org, they have a whole host of interesting and helpful articles. Also, maybe you can use some tips here.
I love the word "tryolution!" Wow, I'm going to have to remember that!
L.O.V.E. it! I can't wait for the follow up either. Spill it!!
I like to claim Momnesia...it's the only reasonable excuse for...Me!
When I look back at my blogging, I think I should know how to do more by now. I know I would love to switch up my template, content... lots and lots, but then I have to ask myself if I really need to be spending that much time and effort, when I have SO many other things that need to take priority. BUt the blog is so much more fun...than dishes, laundry...
I have an elliptical machine I need to reintroduce myself to, right now it is better friends with the dust bunnies! :)
Hey! I was there for that post! Yay...
I have always wanted a treadmill...and I'm curious what you decided, too!
The treadmill...ack!
Heidi
Wow, how fun.
My treadmill MOCKS me. We have a love/hate relationship. Mostly hate. :)
I just thought you should all know that I dusted off my treadmill. I ran on it. Then, I ate popcorn, cake, and a chocolate egg. Heck, why bother with a treadmill if you can't eat what you want . . .
Ah, I am so with you on #1 and 3!
We just moved our treadmill downstairs out of site. You have no idea what guilt that machine heaped upon my shoulders every day!
Blessings, Joanne
