PhotoStory Friday: What I wish for you

PhotoStory Friday
Hosted by Cecily and MamaGeek

Nearly every morning J and I head out to the park. He usually falls asleep in the car or in the stroller while we walk. It is a quiet and peaceful time . . . a time when I usually do a lot of thinking.

Just this morning I was about to take J out of the car seat and put him in the stroller when I glanced back and saw this . . .

My baby boy. He's going to be a year old in August. August 10th. To say that day was a life changer is an understatement.

I started thinking . . . wondering . . . and making silent wishes. While J lay peacefully in his seat, I started a list (yes, along with my camera, I usually have books and a notepad that accompany me everywhere).

This list is what I wish for him . . . to be . . . to do . . . to have.

* Respect--give it and earn it.
* Love humanity.
* Know that it isn't all about you and that's OK.
* Know what matters and what doesn't.
* Travel, see the world, soak it in (I take great inspiration from their adventures)
* Appreciate cultures, relish in differences, learn of the world around you.
* Believe in who you are, who you can be, and what you can do.
* Be a gracious loser and a humble winner.
* Respect your body (and her body, too). And if you get her pregnant, you are BOTH pregnant. Just so you know . . .
* Don't be too concerned about doing it the RIGHT WAY, be more concerned about doing WHAT IS RIGHT.
* Failure is only your first try.
* Laugh, smile, laugh some more.
* Have fun. Soak in each and every moment. Time is fleeting . . .
* Eat your fruits and veggies.
* Move every day--appreciate what your body can do.
* Hard work is the foundation for good character (if it is worth it, you'll work for it).
* Mistakes are the building blocks of life. Learn, grow, move on.
* Read. A lot.
* Video games are awesome. But outside is an awesome adventure. The air. The sun. The imagination.
* What you do reflects who you are.
* Be kind. Be generous. Be honest. Be real.
* Popularity is an illusion. Don't fall for it.
* Embrace your inner klutz (you are my son after all).
* Share your gifts and thank others for sharing their gifts.
* Teach, be a mentor, give.
* Appreciate our planet.
* Be thankful for all He has given you.
* External beauty is temporary. Internal beauty is eternal.
* Stick to your word.
* Don't be afraid to admit when you are wrong and say you are sorry.
* Know that this is the only life you get--live it.

and finally . . .

* Love with every part of who you are.

*and don't forget, your momma is always right :)

* * *

That is a beautiful list!! You must have some purse to carry all that stuff around! LOL!

Lori said...

you should save that and give it to him as a graduation gift

Awwww.... Very sweet. It's amazing how fast the years go by. The first one is the biggest shocker, but every one after is still a jolt to my system.

That is amazing; I love the one about it not being all about him and that being okay. I am really struggling with my 9 year old about that one, and it is tough love at it's hardest. You are such a great woman, and he is lucky!

That is a great list.....and more importantly an adorable shot.

I love those quiet times when they are sleeping. It makes those annoying-screaming-fit times more managable!

I love the first picture through the rear view mirror. How precious. Greta list that I believe I will print out. Thanks for sharing.

How much does he weigh? You know you can turn him around at 20 pounds, right? For us? That was about this age.

I LOVE the list. Esp. the klutz part...you and I are so alike sometimes.

WOW, this might just be my favorite post of yours of all time. That shot alone made me smile Laski - talk about sweetness. Times like that, all is right in the world for a brief moment. Thank you so much for playing PSF, this was excellent.

That is awesome. I agree with Lori...what a great graduation gift that would be. I carry a lot of that stuff around too. A small compact camera and my journal. Always taking photos and always writing.

It is the way to go for us who like to keep our memories.

Great list...and I love the photo in the mirror. I have tried unsuccessfully to capture that same shot. You have inspired me to try again.

Oh he is so adorable! Look at that sweet face. Wow! This is just the best post. Love the list. I feel this way lots lately since my little guy turns one next week. How did the time fly so quickly? This time last year we were big mama's, now we have big boys. And they just don't look so much like babies anymore. Oh boy...you're gonna get me going here. I've been so emotional leading up to the birthday. Your boy is such a doll. And you love him so much, it's so evident. XO Priceless.

I like that the one picture is bounced off of two mirrors and is still perfectly in focus. It's a nice touch

What a wonderful list! I'm glad you wrote it down and recorded your feelings. since I wasn't as good at that when Isaac was a baby I feel like I missed so much.

Time flies, doesn't it? He's getting so big. Doesn't he know he's not supposed to do that so quickly??

GREAT PSF! I am so glad you are playing with us!!

P.S. You my friend, have such an amazing way with words.

That's a great list! And a super cute picture.
One thing my husband and I often talk about is that we wonder if Little Elvis will ever fully know or appreciate how loved and adored he is. We both kind of feel like he won't understand until he's a dad, because that's when it hit us.

Gotta love a mom that wishes for her child to move everyday - you are a good mom!!!

Have a great weekend - Kellan
