PSF: Snow Angel

The ticker crawled across the screen. Local schools canceled. Bleary-eyed, I switched the channel to see the forecast.

Not a lot of snow. But maybe just enough. My eyes shifted down, to the little orange jeep that made its way over my belly and down my leg. I giggled as J headed down to my feet with the tiny vehicle. A tiny grin slowly spread across his face. Clearly he wasn't tiring of the "mom track."

I wonder if he knew what I had planned for him today?

9:46 AM

We started with the boots. The Parenting 101 manual did not specify time and effort it takes to put on a pair of boots.

No one told me that a squirming toddler is absolutely no help.

10:15 AM

Seriously. Why do they even bother with thumbs in mittens?

10:27 AM

Why in the heck am I looking for the matching hat?

10: 39 AM

He took off a boot. %$*&@

10: 44 AM

He's dressed. My turn. Clearly didn't think ahead. Can't afford another boot to be pulled off. Will go outside in PJs and heavy coat and rain boots. Good enough.

10:45 AM

We have made contact with snow.

10:45:05 AM

Face has made contact with snow.

11:50 AM

After several attempts to coax reluctant toddler back into the house, I finally succeed. Of course he was crying, dragging his bootless feet, holding onto the railing as he came "willingly" into the house.

I'm thinking our venture was a success. Even if I ended up with toe-sicles, it was worth every second.

Icy blue eyes. Puffy-cheeked grin. And a body full of bliss. My very own snow angel.

Totally worth it.

I can't let you all go without wishing a funny (serious belly laughs, people), sweet (though she may deny it), ridiculously generous (though she'll probably deny that, too) blogging buddy a VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY. You know, 29 never looked so good (again).

We got some snow in the mountains and I'd love to take the boys but I'd have to invest in the appropriate gear, get them in, drive there... we'll just gather around these pictures of Jay.

Did he really stay out there for an hour? That is awesome! What a trooper. And a cute one too. :)

29 looks fine & dandy - it's the big ol' prepubescent zit I'm not okay with. Darn pcos! I love that you linked to me & you know you rock my world til' Cananda Day, right? Smooches.

The pictures? Hello 10000 words! I am so glad he loved it. You might be spending a lot of time outside this winter.

What a neat timeline! I totally get the frustration of putting boots on a toddler. We do not deal with boots, but shoes, coats, shirts, whatever, can be a challenge too! :)

I love the pictures and you do have a beautiful little snow angel!

Cute! My son was not liking the snow too much... Maybe next time!

My daughter can only make it about 5 minutes in the snow before she punks out. It's a real travesty, because I love playing in the snow. I hope the holidays are wonderful for you guys!

Great pictures of your snow angel! fun timeline story too. Kids are So funny to watch out in the snow. Mine are dying to get out and do some playing in the snow, but we have below zero temps and I can't do that! Play a little for them, k?

What an absolute cutie he is and what a trooper!

Definitely a magical memory-making moment! And I wouldn't have thought to get dressed myself first, either. Even though I can barely get out the door with both shoes still on, and no snow anywhere in the hemisphere...

Totally taking my little one out in the snow tomorrow. It was still snowing here at 6 when we left for a dinner. But I can handle a romp in the snow...as long as it isn't still blowing and snowing.
Lots of snow at our park as can be seen from my pic on my blog: www.megoagain.com

He looks like he enjoyed it! All that's left to do is introduce him to cocoa and marshmallows! yum. :)

Hope you have fun all weekend in the white stuff. -MM

those photos are SO CUTE! I love pics of them in the snow, but I hate being out in it! ha. I agree about the thumbs in mittens for kids....I always buy newborn mittens, no thumbs and their hands actually fit into them! Mittens are always so Huge!

KG said...

I agree. TOTALLY worth it.

I'm jealous - Down South? We're stuck with 80 degree temperatures most Christmases and, in fact, it was 84 here yesterday. Which really sucks. BUT it's sort of nice to be able to give a kid water toys for Christmas that he can play with immediately ...

Oh mittens, the bane of a toddler mom's existence.
Well, not actually a toddler mom because that would be just weird. You know what i mean! (:

So adorable! He has such a cute little face.

You are the BEST mom!! :)

It does take a LONG time to get kids ready to go out to play... and wait till he is potty trained and you get him all ready and then you step outside and he has to go potty. ugh!! lol

you will cut your time down too, the more you "practice" lol you will both get faster at it... I can get all three kids dressed and out the door to play in about 4 hrs. JK

:) we spend a LOT more time getting ready than we do playing outside... or so it seems.

LOVE the pictures.
Glad you had fun.
Hope your toes have defrosted!!

xoxoxoxo HUGS!!
happy be-lated holidays and wishing you the BEST new year. :)
