What happens when you little baby decides to grow up?
First, J decides to crawl. Awe. So cute. This crawling thing. He started out scoot crawling, then went to a reluctant cross crawl. Now, in a mere 48 hours he is Speed Racer (crawling is so overrated--especially when you have yet to fully baby proof). Toys are now barricades. Or, they were. Until he decided that not only would he crawl. He would CLIMB. Over EVERYTHING. Me. Toys. Imaginary playmates. Me. As if that weren't enough. J decided to stand. STAND. OK, Law Student Hot Mama, I may count my blessings that he isn't walking like Sumo Baby . . . but, I am still ILL PREPARED. He was my cute little lump only a few weeks ago!!! Good grief! (Do NOT say he will be walking in no time. I love living in the land of denial).
What's worse?
He figured out to stand on his own in his crib (video will follow soon, not because you have no idea what I am talking about but so you experienced moms can LYBO at what I am about to endure--I'm too lazy to upload right now). Anyway, this wasn't the worst part actually. Crawling, Climbing, Standing Baby Boy J's mom decides to make use of her receiving blankets and tie them to the crib, fashioning a sort of bumper. So incredibly classy of me (he still ended up with a little bump or two . . . ).
Tonight was the banquet (Nice time, good food. I got a little teary. Big surprise there--I'll give more details soon . . . ). T took J to the bowling alley since we were without babysitter. J was a star and according to T he had a gaggle of bowling chicks fawning over him. Which resulted in a major snooze fest when they returned home.
I'm gonna watch Idol now and my anal retentive self will still end up doing my review. So, you die hard Idolists better read it . . .
*Pistons won. Wings tomorrow. Woo hoo!!! Do I smell a Wings/Pens match up??? Could be . . .

Did I ever tell you about Danger Boy--he walked the day he turned 8 months, ran the same day, had his first stitches 2 weeks later. Oh yeah, good times.
So, Riley is a climber too. The boy will climb anything in his path. But at almost 13 months, he is still not walking. J will probably be walking before my I will mountain climb before I walk lazy bones boy. Glad the banquet went well. What an honor!
ross, my youngest...he used to jump out of his crib. so we decided, when he was 18months, to put him in a big boy bed. and...he still jumps out of that!
xoxo
Oh no! So many new things so fast!
I hope he doesn't walk soon. It is so hard to keep up with them. :(
Can't wait to hear how the Banquet went. I know you have other more important things to get to first, but this former teacher can't wait to hear all about it!
Happy Idol watching! :)
It's such a pleasure watching J grow up in front of *us* too. If you can believe it, I'm almost as shocked as you. Standing? Oy.
How was the banquet? Were you surprised at the student?
your little guy is growing up.... just watch he will be creeping soon! Blake learned to walk about 4 days before he turned 9 months old so you never know what time frame they will choose to do things on their own! Get ready momma...
What a big boy!!!!!! I had a friend who said her son would stand up in bed at night and couldn't get back down! So he'd literally fall asleep standing up and then fall down in his sleep and start screaming... Not that that will happen to you of course ;)
Oooo..... you're in for some FUN times now. And I bet he's having a grand time - WAY more things to reach... and chew and .......well you know.
♡ It happens SO fast! He's so cute and I love your crib!!!
Hang on to your hat, my friend. You are in for a wild ride, I predict... :)
Heidi
Oddly, Sumo still doesn't crawl. He opts for walking instead.
Welcome to the club! BWAHAHAHAHAHA *evil maniacal cackling*
Ohhh...he is just so darn cute. You need to produce about 4 more of those.
I'm so glad the snake picture wasn't here. What were you thinking of touching a snake. It could have attacked you.
So who was the student who wanted to honor you? Was it a kid you thought it might be? Come on, we need more details!!! ;)
My second son was walking by 8 1/2 months. Can you freaking believe it? It was crazy.
Hang in there!
The blanket bumper is a great idea. My son was climbing out of his crib at 18 mos, just like Such Simple Pleasures's son. Perhaps the blanket bumper will help discourage that! Good luck -- I know that the fast mobility thing can be daunting. But you'll love it too.
You have entered one of the most hideous stages (only out hideously ranked by potty training) It is the "I have stood and I can't get down" stage. UGH. The standing in the crib screaming until you release him from the standing position. The OCD behavior that is STANDING. Thankfully the stage is much shorter then potty training and you will make it through it...but try to stay sane. You can make it....
Yes, they grow up so fast - crawling and climbing and then running! Cute picture!
Have a good day - see you - Kellan
I couldn't believe it when my boy started standing either. Ack! He's the baby and I would like him to stay that way! I had a dream that he was walking, and he's only 8 months! Yikes.
Can't wait to see the video!
I think the blanket bumper is a great idea! We bought the crib guards and Little Elvis discovered during one particularly successful napfight that he could pull them off and chunk them across the room. I ran in convinced that he had fallen. We had to take them off the next day, because he kept throwing them in an attempt to get us to come rescue him from his crib.
Okay, I think it will get better. I think (from the experiences with my four kids) that they are just overly excited when they figure all that crap out. He'll go back to napping and all that. Just don't give up on it!
As far as the rest, my very favorite thing in the world are those baby gates! (I'm still getting used to the fact that I have a baby again, so I don't have any in this house yet) In our old house when my older 3 were all tiny I had baby gates & barricades everywhere! I heart them!
Good luck!!
awe, pretty normal to not nap during such a wonderful exploration phase.
He is too cute!
I totally agree with the comment above me. It's normal to have a few days to adjust to a milestone. But, if he's starting to crawl, believe me, he's expending more energy & will be snoozing harder & better very soon.
And wait, the banquet. You'll tell us about the student who nominated you and your experience, right?
My youngest keeps my heart pumping..I swear he is trying to put me in an early grave..He climbs on EVERYTHING! Luckily not the crib yet.. and I love the bumper!!!
I can't say it's going to get easier becuase it's not. At least not for a while.
Now he will be into everything. His whole world has just opened up...especially your cabinets.
Oh man. I remember those days. I have 1 word of advice- "Skates". You may want to buy some :(
I'm sorry, that impromtu rail bumper is HYSTERICAL! right now both my boys have matching bruises on their heads...Gavin from running while in school and cracking skulls with another boy, and Cooper from trying to stand up in his crib at school and bumped his head when he couldn't get one of his chubbo legs under him correctly.
You are so in for it! I stood in my crib at seven months and by 1 year I was climbing out and refusing to nap. He is too cute and I love your receiving blanket bumper.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, cute mobile baby blah, blah, blah. Let's cut to the good stuff: I smell that Wings/Pens match-up, too. I trust that we can both be adults and respectful of one another as the Pens squish the Wings, right?
And so begins the season of having to explain his bumps and bruises everywhere you go...mine all crawled and walked early.
Its bitter sweet. So fun to watch them learn and get big, but MAN the world changes when they get mobile!!!!
Good luck!!!
hehe
I had to chuckle at the pic.
Can't wait to hear about the banquet.
And of course the girls were loving J at the bowling alley, who wouldn't! :)
I want more banquet details. Don't keep me hanging!!
Baby J is precious and yes it is starting to get really interesting. HJ has been going to MM's play room every morning and playing. Where is my little baby??? I'm almost thinking we might need Baby #3....almost:) HAHA!
He is darling. Just wait til he figures out how to climb out. Some children never learn this. One of mine did and one did not. Best of luck with your cutie!
does that bed convert to a full size headboard??
He is too cute by the jammie wrapped railing!
Oh my baby boy is gettin' up on everything these days. It can be a beating sometimes. All I can say is expect a few bruises and tears. Mine falls and then gets right back up again after he gets over it! AHHHHH!!!
Oh mommy, I won't even say how much you are in for it now...
Love your bumper, very nice.
I can't wait to hear about your banquet, so amazing, sounds like the kids know you well with that AI comment, cute.
